The Rock Island-Milan School District is hosting a back-to-school event on Sunday, July 28, at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The "Ready to ROCK the Schoo Year!" event is a celebration held each year on the Sunday before begins to get students excited about going back to school.
The first day of school is Friday, August 2.
Each school in the RIMSD will be represented and will have a special item for students when they visit their school's booth.
The Rock Island-Milan Booster Club is serving up free hot dogs, chips, and water, PLUS the first 1,000 visitors receive a goody bag full of offers from around the community.
Community organizations will also be on hand - City of Rock Island, Community Caring Conference, Figge Art Museum, Girl Scouts, IL/IA Independent Living, Illinicare Health, Johannes Bus, MetroLINK, QC Sports Net, RI C.A.R.E, RI County Health Department, RI Public Library, Rock Island Bible Church, Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation. Spring Forward Learning Center, Two Rivers YMCA, University of IL Extension, Wellness Committee / QC Health Initiative, Youth Service Bureau, YWCA of the Quad Cities, Clock Inc, Community Health Care, Family Resources, Groove 92.5, Black Hawk College with information that students and parents can benefit from.
