Dear RIMSD#41 staff and families,

 

First of all, I want to take the opportunity to thank our families for reaching out to us regarding the SHIELD Illinois COVID-19 testing. We are implementing this COVID testing process in our schools to ease the burden of COVID testing on families and also to mitigate and minimize any outbreaks in our school buildings. It is our intent that this be an easy process on students and families. 

 

It has come to our attention that we need to get updated guidance information from SHIELD Illinois in our FAQ and Opt-Out form, therefore we will not be starting the SHIELD COVID testing the week of February 7. We will determine a new timeline once we get some updated information back from SHIELD Illinois and our third-party testing organization. 

 

I will send out an update as soon as we have a new timeline available. 

 

Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this process. Other school districts in Illinois have had success with this COVID testing measure, and I know that it will help keep our students and staff in the classroom as much as possible.
